Belle Isle now provides visitors with two electric vehicle charging stations, available on a self-pay basis.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources announced the move, marking the first such station at a southeast Michigan state park. The stations are operated by local service provider Diatomic Energy, with funding from initiatives of DTE and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy. Vehicle Charging Stations
"We're really excited to work with Diatomic Energy, DTE Energy and EGLE on this project," said Chuck Allen, DNR Parks and Recreation division Department analyst.
The two stations are open to the public at the Belle Isle Nature Center parking lot. Users pay for the service digitally through the EV Connect app.
The fast-charging stations use technology that can charge a vehicle's battery in 10 minutes, depending on the vehicle and battery. The stations are powered by solar and wind energy from DTE's MIGreenPower resources.
